- My daughter was swimming butterfly and finished
by grabbing the top of the gutter why does her time not reflect when she
touched the gutter? Answer: The rules
clearly state that the swimmer will finish the race when they touch the
finish wall at the end of the race course. The wall is defined as the
vertical wall that is perpendicular to the race course. The gutter is
not on the vertical face, it is actually outside of the race course.
- It has only been fifteen minutes since my son's
last event, isn't he suppose to have at least twenty minutes rest?
Answer: There is no minimum time requirement
between events in the rule book.
- My swimmer wants to scratch their first event
in order to swim on the freestyle relay.
Answer: Every swimmer must swim every event in which they are entered.
If a swimmer scratches or misses an event they are disqualified from the
rest of the meet.
- My swimmer is in the bathroom and fallen and
they are unconscious. Will they be disqualified from the meet if they
miss an event. Answer: Under normal
circumstances missing an event would be cause for disqualification from the
remainder of the meet. This is not a normal circumstance and the meet
referee has the authority to intervene in such circumstances.
- When do I have to designate which swimmers will
be on the relays. Answer: When you
prepare your entries for "Regionals" you will specify your six swimmers.
You will also designate the order for those six swimmers. When they
qualify for state the same six and the designated order will be
advanced to state. If you are going to make a change in the order or
the intend to use an alternate those changes must be completed at the
"Coaches Meeting". You can check the
entries as they are posted on this web site and make corrections early to
make things less hectic at the meeting. Simply send Joe and email with
the corrections.
